Because it is farmers who will defeat hunger in the world.

What is it about?

In a world full of crises and challenges, there is one area where we can take concrete and effective action together: agriculture. It is the key to combating hunger, which affects over 700 million people every day. We are therefore launching the ‘Einfach €15’ donation initiative with the aim of establishing 1,000 new machinery rings in Senegal and supporting the most important profession in the world: food production.

The core idea:

Just €15 – for a world without hunger’

A small contribution from each individual – with a big impact on the community

With just €15 per person, we can achieve great things together: if one million people donate, we can enable the construction of 1,000 machine rings in Senegal and thus make a sustainable contribution to the fight against hunger. In the district of Neuburg-Schrobenhausen, we want to show that at least 5,000 people are willing to participate by 24 October 2025. The donations go directly to local agriculture. We provide transparent information about how the funds are used and the benefits they bring.

With your donation, you will improve the lives of people in Senegal in the long term and give them real prospects in their own country.

Alle wichtigen Fragen

A machinery ring is an organisation run by farmers for farmers, with the central aim of supporting agricultural businesses. The goal is to increase the efficiency and productivity of farms, thereby enabling higher agricultural production.
For almost 70 years, machinery rings have been giving farmers access to technology, knowledge and community. In Senegal, where the Maschinenring Foundation has been active for seven years, many areas remain uncultivated due to a lack of machinery. Locally adapted mechanisation increases productivity, improves working conditions and creates opportunities – especially for young people in rural areas. The start-up investment in a new machinery ring with up to 300 member farms is a one-off payment of €15,000.

The country's self-sufficiency in staple foods such as rice is well below demand; around 75% of rice is imported. The country is striving for food sovereignty. Within seven years, we have already established 258 machine rings in Senegal, which are operating successfully. With an additional 1,000 machinery rings, local farmers will have access to the MR organisation and will be able to work more productively and easily thanks to the adapted use of technology. In addition, Senegal is pursuing the overarching goal of achieving food sovereignty for the country by 2030. The only thing farmers lack is start-up financing.

It is primarily used to finance simple agricultural technology. For example, we equip local smallholders with ploughs, threshing machines and mills. This money is also used to finance staff for a limited period of time. When a farmer uses the agricultural technology provided, they pay a fee set by their local Maschinenring. This earns the Maschinenring money, which it can then invest in maintaining existing technology and purchasing new equipment. Once established, this community is self-sustaining.

The necessary structures for implementation are already in place and functioning. Together with our local colleagues, a total of 120 new machinery rings were established in 2024 alone. Demand from farmers is high, and their willingness to actively participate is clearly evident.

No, mechanisation will not lead to job losses locally. On the contrary, it will significantly increase agricultural productivity. It will also create new employment opportunities in upstream and downstream sectors of agriculture, for example in the maintenance and distribution of machinery or in the processing of agricultural products. Since not all workers are needed for physically demanding and unproductive subsistence farming, more people can focus on other activities. This creates space for agriculture in Senegal to become increasingly market-oriented and develop further, improving the income situation of farmers.
